CECILIA DE BUCOURT

Cecilia De Bucourt was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
At the young age of 14, she signed a contract with Ford Agency, moved to Japan and started her modeling career. She went on to travel the world appearing in campaigns and editorial for the biggest names in fashion across all prestigious publications internationally.

In her late 20’s she made her way to New York City where she began her fierce fashion career under her brand/label Cecilia De Bucourt. She successfully sold to all major retailers around the world.

Over the past few years, her love and attraction for photography finally took fruition and led her to the International Center of Photography where she studied for 5 years. In this time she discovered and became incredibly passionate about dance and movement. Her natural transition from being in-front of the camera to being behind it showcased her incredible talent and unique understanding of light, body and presence. Inspired by movement and the human body, Cecilia started photographing dancers and artists who use their bodies as a form of expression. This has created a style of work that dynamically and viscerally captures the celebration of the human body, its movement, expression and emotion. Her work transports the viewer to a moment somewhere between reality and fantasy.

Adding to her visual repertoire she has begun exploring motion within her photography. Within the last year, she filmed and edited a series of 7 videos with dancers in iconic New York places that were empty and desolate during the first months of Covid-19. She called this first motion series “GhostCity”.
